Explore how we blend functionality and style in our Sammamish New Build kitchen, and discover how you can apply these ideas to your own kitchen.
Kitchens represent the pinnacle of functionality in a home. It's essential for everything to be within reach and organized to maintain a clear workspace. However, this doesn't mean it can't be adorned with thoughtfully chosen pieces that enhance its functionality AND style! Our Sammamish New Build project is the perfect case study for countertop styling inspiration. With ample space available, we incorporated some of our favorite vignettes. Here are 5 techniques we employed!

01 // Grouping
Aim for visual harmony by grouping items together.
Use trays or containers to eliminate visual clutter.
Consider the size, shape, and color of your items when grouping them.
02 // Books
Stack cookbooks for both function and style.
Play around with book stands if you have the space for it.
Choose books with interesting covers that speak to your lifestyle and aesthetic. These can also be changed out seasonally

03 // Artwork
Incorporate small pieces of art to add unexpected charm.
Lean them against the backsplash and layer items in front, or use them to style open shelving.
Change artwork seasonally for a fresh aesthetic.
04 // Greenery
Introduce plants to create a fresh and inviting atmosphere.
Choose low-maintenance options like succulents or herbs that you love to cook with!
Use decorative pots to complement the overall kitchen theme.

05 // Vase or Pot Instead of Utensil Holder
Let's get real, for those of us who like to cook, the standard utensil holders just aren't big enough to accommodate all our STUFF! So why do we need to limit ourselves?
We often use vases or plant pots as utensil holders. They hold more, and they offer a whole new range of stylistic options!
This shift adds an unexpected element to your counter that will have guests questioning why they aren't doing the sam.

I love the soft elegant feeling of this kitchen space. The wood aspects fit in perfectly giving a warm feeling to what can be a cold harsher room in a home. The foldable stool in the kitchen fits right in aesthetically and functionally. Thank you for the reminder that our larger pottery and vases are great utensil holders!
