GO-TO RECIPE: STRAWBERRY SMOOTHIES
COFFEE ORDER: ICED LAVENDER/ROSE LATTE WITH (HALF SWEET)
Last week I was going out of my mind with the back and forth of whether I should post a slightly messy progress photo that was taken with an iPhone. I was worried it would interrupt my attempt at a curated feed of finished professional photography. But then I thought about the kind of content I connect to the most, and often it's the peek behind the curtain at the weird and seemingly mundane details of living. I DO want to know what books you're reading, how you like your coffee, and what kind of music you're listening to that gets you through your day.
So as I spend another hot July day working from my dining table to escape the heat of my office, I have decided I'd like to share a bit more about myself with you! A peek into the weird messy mundane if you will. Apologies if you hate it!
Typically I'm a homebody, but during these precious few summer months I do my damndest to get out of the house, or into the backyard instead of being a total vampire. June and July has actually been kind of a whirlwind! From concerts at the Gorge to impromptu road trips, so hopefully it's a bit less boring than it might be in the future...
Embracing the Solitude & Simple Joy's
Despite this being a busy couple of months, I really enjoy quiet moments to myself. I have been reading more this past year, than I have in a long time. It has become my ritual to start my morning with a cup of coffee, and a chapter or two. During my breaks (when it's not hot enough to melt me) I have been reading in our little backyard of wildflower chaos that I can't get enough of <3 (thank you to my husband who loves flowers even more than me and sprinkled seeds all over last year)
Roadtrip!
My husband and I celebrated our five year anniversary back in June by taking a somewhat spontaneous road trip down highway 101 and then into the national forests in Oregon. We went to some of my favorite places, and discovered some new ones that I can't wait to go back to. And jeez, there is nothing so magical as the night sky without the light pollution from nearby cities.
Quality Time with Loved Ones
One of my favorite things about summer is how often I get to spend time with my favorite people! We are a group of introverts and homebodies so we usually like to sit in the backyard together in the summer, but we have really been getting out there lately!
SO MANY BIRTHDAYS! (moms, dads, brothers, husbands... all of them!)
I got to take maternity photos for two of my very bestest friends... truly such an honor
Noah Kahan at the Gorge completely changing my brain chemistry
Melted in the heat at Odesza's world tour finale at the Gorge
Melted in the heat and danced around Seattle Pride
Melted in the heat at the lake
Melted in the heat at my first ever Renaissance Faire!
On My Calendar
I have lots of exciting projects wrapping up this summer! One of them is a new build that Aliyah and I started working on back in Spring of 2022! I have been working hard on accessories and art to get ready for the uber talented Sumaira Amber to photograph it towards the end of the week! I cannot wait to share this project with everyone!
Another one wrapping up is a full home renovation for repeat clients who I love working with! They love to push the boundaries with unique design ideas which is always so fun! We are just waiting for a few light fixtures and some final button up details! Another one I am so excited to share!
My work days have been filled with a mix of construction coordination and furniture/accessories selections which has created a really nice balance!
Also! I finally got some of my favorite items together in a virtual store that anyone can shop from! I will be updating it with new picks ever few months so be sure to check it out, you might find that perfect item for your own home, or a great gift! I am doing my best to include a wide variety of items all at different price points.
Wrapping Up July
This time of year is always so hectic, but in the best way! At this point I will be the first to admit I'm already feeling ready for cooler weather... but I just want to squeeze as much as I can out of our short summer months. As Noah Kahan so rightly said "every photograph that's taken here, is from the summer" and boy does that feel relevant in Olympia Washington.
