Kirkland Renovation Project: Transforming a Home into a Modern Oasis

This year has brought about some pretty satisfying renovation before and after's. Check out how Studio Molina transformed some of the key spaces in this Kirkland remodel.

This Kirkland, WA remodel project embodies a clean and contemporary aesthetic with a neutral color palette and understated textures. The entire home was revitalized with new flooring, paint, doors, trim, and windows, with a significant focus on transforming the kitchen and primary bathroom. The kitchen and bathroom received a complete redesign, including new finishes, fixtures and entirely new layouts.

The design draws inspiration from Japandi style, reflecting the couple’s desire to incorporate elements from their time in Japan into their new home. With a minimalist preference, the couple sought a serene and uncluttered space, which we achieved by emphasizing clean lines and ample storage solutions.

In the kitchen, polished quartz countertops and vertically stacked tiles with subtle color variations add a touch of texture. A walk-in pantry, concealed behind sliding doors, and a large island with storage on both sides cater to the clients’ needs. Adjacent to the kitchen, the dining room features a custom-built cabinet and coffee counter that is more in line with the clients lifestyle, than the fireplace that had never been used.

For the primary bathroom, our goal was to create an open and tranquil environment. Starting as a space only half the size it is now. We repurposed an underutilized hallway bathroom to create a spacious en-suite featuring a walk-in shower with built-in niches. By using the same tile for both the floor and shower walls, we achieved a cohesive and minimalist look, with varied textures that enhance the space’s openness.
