Studio Molina's White Paint Roundup

Writer: Harmony MolinaHarmony Molina

If you've ever embarked on the daunting mission of selecting the perfect white paint for your space, you know how overwhelming it can be. White paint always starts out seeming like a simple choice, until you step in front of that wall of paint sample chips and realize that white paint isn't just white paint. There hundreds of shades and undertones to chose from!

We get asked all the time "do you have a favorite white paint?". And the answer is yes... many! The truth is, no one white paint is going to be universal. One paint that works great in a really bright home with lots of natural light, isn't going to have the same effect as if it were painted in a home with low ceilings and not a lot of windows. It really takes some due diligence to know for sure what paint is going to work best for your space. All that being said, over the years we have developed a short list of sorts that includes our go to white paints across the spectrum!

Let's dive into our white paint roundup!

1. White Dove OC-17, Benjamin Moore

If we really did have to pick just one white as our favorite, White Dove might be the one... We have used this on countless projects over the years! White Dove is like a warm hug for your walls. Its soft, creamy undertones make any space instantly cozy and inviting, without being overly yellow. This is actually the color that Harmony used within her own home!

2. Swiss Coffee OC-45 Benjamin Moore

Another classic favorite, Swiss Coffee is a cozy warm white a fail-safe option for those who want white walls without the starkness of pure white. It truly is a timeless color that works in both modern, and traditional interiors. This versatile shade pairs beautifully with both warm and cool tones, making it an excellent choice for any room in your home. If you are worried about the color coming off a bit too yellow in your space, you can always ask to reduce the color percentage to make it a bit brighter!

3. Alabaster SW 7008, Sherwin Williams

Alabaster is another gorgeous off-white, similar to Swiss Coffee, but with more of a balance between undertones of gray and yellow. This often makes Alabaster a bit more versatile for different lighting conditions.

4. Extra White SW 7006, Sherwin Williams

If you're seeking more of a, pure white with just a hint of softness to make a bold statement, Extra White is the way to go. This crisp and clean shade is perfect for creating a fresh, contemporary look in your home. Ideal for those who love a high-contrast palette that makes colors pop. This is also a color we like to use on trim and ceilings!

5. Chantilly Lace OC-65, Benjamin Moore

Dreaming of walls that are as pure as freshly fallen snow? Look no further than Chantilly Lace. This bright white paint is a tried and true for us, especially for cabinets, trim, and ceilings. Its clean, silky appearance is perfect for those who want to create a modern, airy atmosphere.

6. Simply White OC-117, Benjamin Moore

The name says it all - Simply White is the go-to choice for those seeking a versatile, no-fuss white paint. Its balanced undertones make it a foolproof option that works well with any color scheme. Whether you're revamping your kitchen or refreshing your walls, Simply White is a safe bet.

7. Pale Oak OC-20, Benjamin Moore

This is a slightly darker shade within our collection of favorite whites. It is incredibly soft and and serene with light taupe undertones that make any room feel calm. This is a color we will use forever!

Selecting the right white paint can be a daunting task due to the myriad of shades and undertones available. If you find yourself overwhelmed by the choices, our consultation services can be a great place to start! Our experts can help you navigate through the options and find the perfect white paint that complements your space beautifully.

I really appreciate the chance to see so many whites shown at one time . It was nice to see the variations in warmth and crispness. I am usually a person that thinks white is just, "white", and leans towards color. I got a glimpse into the fact that the white can be the thing to lean the other colors upon in a room. Thanks for the visual aid. It worked.
